Ketua Umum Persatuan Sepak Bola Seluruh Indonesia (PSSI) Erick Thohir menegaskan tak ada tekanan siapapun dalam keputusan pemecatan pelatih timnas Indonesia Shin Tae-yong (STY).
Pada jumpa pers di Menara Danareksa, Jakarta, Senin, Erick menepis semua anggapan bahwa dirinya ditekan beberapa pihak, mulai mafia bola hingga Exco PSSI, dalam memberhentikan STY).
“Saya rasa semua tidak benar karena kalian tahu saya ini pemimpin yang tidak bisa ditekan-tekan,” kata Erick.
Ia menegaskan keputusan pemberhentian STY murni keputusan terbaik yang sudah dipikirkan dengan matang untuk mewujudkan misi Indonesia berlaga di Piala Dunia 2026.
Langkah Indonesia menuju Piala Dunia 2026 akan ditentukan empat pertandingan ke depan di babak kualifikasi putaran ketiga. Saat ini, Indonesia menghuni posisi ketiga klasemen sementara Grup C dengan enam poin dari enam pertandingan.
